Pac-10 Picks: Week Four

Arizona State – Georgia:  Arizona State needs a near perfect game and turnovers to get the upset against the number three ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia has terrific team speed on defense and they have Knowshon Moreno on offense.  Georgia by a touchdown.

Arizona – UCLA:  Keys in this game.  Can the UCLA defense stay with the Wildcats quarterback Willie Tuitama and his wide open offense.  Which UCLA team will show up, the one that outlasted Tennessee in overtime or the one that did not show last week against BYU.  UCLA by three at home.

Stanford – San Jose:  Jim Harbough is yet to find a consistent quarterback as he continues the Cardinal rebuilding process.  This will be a must before Stanford can make the next move forward.  If Stanford running back Toby Gerhart can get back on track, his team should win at home by a touchdown vs the San Jose State Spartans.

Oregon – Boise State:  Boise State has won 69 of their last 78 games, but they have yet to beat a BCS conference team on the road in the regular season ( post season is a different issue, ask Oklahoma).  This weeks game is at Autzen Stadium, home to the Oregon Ducks.  A number of  coaching ties in this contest.  Boise State`s Chris Petersen was the offensive coordinator at Oregon under Mike Bellotti.  Bronco defensive coordinator, Justin Wilcox (son of NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Dave Wilcox) was a player at Oregon.  Not a big deal, just adds a little intrigue.  This will be a very exciting game for fans, Oregon by a touchdown.

Washington State – Portland State:  This is a home game for the winless WSU Cougars vs the Jerry Glanville Portland State Vikings.  Oh, did I mention the Viking offensive coordinator is Mouse Davis, recognized as the man instrumental in developing the run & shoot offensive scheme.  The game will be closer than many think.  If the Cougs do not put this one away, they may be looking at a goose egg in the win column at seasons end.  Washington State by three.

USC, California, Oregon State and Washington have a bye this weekend.  Next action, Thursday, September 25th, Corvallis, Oregon……….Oregon State vs USC.
